We are pleased to announce that Northern United Sports Club is taking a significant step towards ensuring the safety and well-being of our members by adopting the New Zealand Football (NZF) Safeguarding Framework. This initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone associated with our club.
The NZF Safeguarding Framework is a comprehensive set of guidelines and best practices designed to safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults participating in football-related activities. We believe that fostering a safe and secure environment is paramount in enabling our members to enjoy the beautiful game to its fullest.
This framework, endorsed by New Zealand Football, encompasses various aspects of safeguarding, including but not limited to:
Code of Conduct: All coaches, volunteers, and officials are expected to adhere to a set of principles that promote ethical behavior, respect, and integrity.
Police Checks: Ensuring that our coaches and volunteers undergo thorough police checks is a crucial element of our commitment to safeguarding.
Education and Training: Ongoing education and training programs will be implemented to equip our coaching staff and volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and address safeguarding concerns.
Reporting Mechanisms: Establishing clear and accessible reporting mechanisms to promptly address and investigate any concerns related to the welfare of our members.
As part of Northern United Sports Club's commitment to the safety and well-being of our members, we are implementing a mandatory requirement for all Coaches, Managers, Referees, and Club Staff (Paid and Unpaid) to undergo police vetting. This crucial step aligns with our adoption of the New Zealand Football (NZF) Safeguarding Framework and is aimed at ensuring a secure environment for all individuals associated with our club.
We encourage all our members, parents, and guardians to familiarise themselves with the NZF Safeguarding Framework. Detailed information can be found on the NZF website https://www.nzfootball.co.nz/safeguarding or to the right of the screen.
By adopting this framework, Northern United Sports Club is reinforcing its commitment to providing a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone involved. We believe that these measures will contribute to the overall positive experience of our members and help in building a strong and supportive football community.
